We had a fantastic response to our call-out for entries to the Our Cultural Landmarks photography competition and Don Tonge, our judge was thrilled with the quality of the entries.

It was good to see a variety of photo entries in both monochrome and colour. It took me a few days of reviewing to get to my first selection of 30, then 20, but it was the last six or seven where I was struggling to choose the 1st, 2nd and 3rd images. Judging is always a personal thing, someone else may choose differently, but I reckon the winners would be from my last 20 selected!

The top 35 are presented below in a gallery, so please flick through to view the images. The asterisk (*) after the photographer’s name indicates that this is included as an illustration in the Bolton Observed anthology, also produced to commemorate Bolton as the GM Town of Culture.

We were pleased to have photographs from Don Tonge and Live from Worktown’s Julia Uttley to promote the competition and anthology call-outs and to present at our gala event. You can view these below.
