There’s a lot of action over the next two weeks so we thought a newsletter might put it all into perspective.

New website

Mass Observation Day 12th May

Each year on Mass Observation Day people thought the UK are invited to contribute a diary entry for the MO archive held by the University of Surrey. This continues the work developed in depth in Bolton from 1937 to 1940 providing a bottom-up profile of everyday life in the town. Unfortunately few people from Bolton now contribute so we’re attempting to significantly change that with the help of the University of Bolton and Bolton Libraries. If you’d like to join in you can pick up details from any library or visit our website post and follow the instructions.

This is a call out for contributions to our new version of Networds which will revert back to ’Worktown Words’. Our new chief editor is published poet and co-organiser of spoken word event Natter, Romina Ramos. Writer Ajaz Qureshi will be the first guest editor and the theme will be ‘Tribute’. Submissions should be up to 40 lines (poetry) or 1000 words (prose). Work should be submitted as a doc or docx attachment, font size11, in Times New Roman. Please put any personal details in the body of the email and just put the title and author name on the document.
